The following photos were taken at Glenn Curtiss Airport (now LaGuardia Airport). The Do.X had arrived August, 27 1931. The twelve 1,400 hp Curtiss-Conqueror V-12 engines were in need of overhaul. Dornier could not afford the cost of the overhauls, so the Do-X stayed at the Glenn Curtiss Airport for the next nine months. Thousands of sightseers made the trip to Glenn Curtiss Airport to tour the aircraft. Dornier finally came up with the cost and the Do.X departed from New York on May 21, 1932.

In 1933 the flying boat's tail section tore off during a botched landing on a reservoir lake near Passau Germany.

The Do.1929 spent its last days as the centerpiece of Germany's new aviation museum, Deutsche Luftfahrt-Sammlung at Lehrter Bahnhof.

I was destroyed during World War II by the Royal Air Force air raid on the night of 23–24 November 1943.
