1913 US Navy C-1/C-5

I think this is a photo of two of the US Navy's "C-boats". The US Navy purchased 4 or 5 of these from Curtiss. A marking of "C-? U.S.N" can be seen on the one in the background. These aircraft were redesigned as "AB". AB-3 was the first US military aircraft to see action. It flew a reconnaissance mission on April 25, 1914 over the city of Vera Cruz, Mexico to check for mines in the harbour.

AB-3 was converted to a taxying trainer after its wings were shortened.
